Cycling is the best way to experience Tokyo's dramatic contrasts — from towering skyscrapers to quiet local neighborhoods — all in a single ride, with the breeze and the changing atmosphere as your guide.
A private tour lets you set your own pace — stop whenever something catches your eye, cycle as fast or as slow as you like, and never have to keep up with other group members. It's your own private time in Tokyo.
Yes, we will do our best to meet your requests, and we like that. But if the destination is far away from the original route, additional charges may apply. Please describe your requests when you book. See more about our price list.
The itinerary depends on your hotel location and your preference. You can see some basic routes from each different starting point. See more about our tour routes.
The tour will last about 3 hours. It depends on the exact traffic conditions or other factors, so we recommend leaving some buffer time in your schedule right after the tour.
Our bike tours range from 15-20km in distance and are considered easy level. Our tours are specially curated based on the theme of skyscrapers to back streets in Tokyo, with multiple short stops along the way to share stories and stop for drinks and photos. The terrain in Tokyo is hilly on the western side, but our bikes are e-bikes, so the tours should be manageable for most people.
The ride is manageable for most people. Western Tokyo — areas like Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Roppongi — is hilly, but our e-bikes' motor takes care of the climbs as you pedal. Most routes use well-paved backstreets, but there are very few dedicated bike lanes in Tokyo. So, we share the road with cars and pedestrians; we design each route to be scenic and safe. Many previous guests agree the route was safe.
Cherry blossoms usually fully bloom in Tokyo from late March to early April. During this time, all of our routes are covered in pink. Tours book up quickly during this season, so if you're planning around cherry blossom timing, we recommend deciding and booking as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, no. Most major hotels in central Tokyo are within range, but hotels farther out may not be included, as the extra travel time could affect the quality and safety of your tour. If your hotel isn't in range, we'll ask you to meet at our Ginza office or another central meeting point instead.
Here is a list of hotels we frequently start tours from: KEIO PLAZA HOTEL TOKYO, Conrad Tokyo, Grand Hyatt Tokyo Roppongi, The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho, Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, Hilton Tokyo, ANA InterContinental Tokyo, Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi, Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel, The Tokyo EDITION, Ginza.
Yes, you can end the tour at a different point for your convenience. Just let us know your preference when you book, and we'll design the best route around it. If you're not familiar with Tokyo's geography, though, starting and ending at your hotel is usually the safest and simplest choice.
We have an office in Ginza, though it's usually unstaffed. You can see photos and reviews of our location on Google Maps.
The morning tour typically starts at 8:30, and the afternoon tour starts at 14:00. We want to be as flexible as possible, so if these times don't suit your schedule, just let us know when you book. Please note that a significant time change may incur an additional charge — see our price list for details.
Yes, we can extend your tour for an additional charge — you can choose your preferred tour duration when you book. See more about our price list.
Not so far. Cycling at night might be exciting, but we believe it's a bit dangerous in Tokyo. We'd rather you enjoy a beer at night, safely back at your hotel.
Please contact us as soon as possible — we'll do our best to fit your schedule.
For safety reasons, the minimum age is 10. If your child is younger, please contact us — we're happy to discuss on a case-by-case basis. Participants should be ideally between 145cm (4'9") and 185cm (6'1") tall, and under 100kg (220lbs), to fit our bikes comfortably. In the past, we've accommodated guests as short as 135cm (4'3") and as tall as 200cm (6'5").
Yes. You must be able to ride a bike, but this is not a race. We provide e-bikes, so the motor and battery assist you as you pedal. It's a relaxing activity. See more about our e-bikes.
Absolutely! Since every tour is completely private, solo travelers are more than welcome — in fact, it's one of the best ways to experience Tokyo at your own pace, with your guide's full attention on you.
We provide helmets, and you must wear them at all times. Those wearing sandals, high heels, flip-flops, skirts, or pants that have wide or flared bottoms are not able to participate. In summer, we encourage you to bring your own towel and sunscreen; in winter, we encourage you to bring gloves. Aside from that, all you need is sports attire and a smile!
E-bikes, helmets, a local English-speaking guide, and smiles. Food, drinks, and admission fees are not included. If we visit a place with an entry fee, please pay it at the entrance.
All payments must be made before the tour via PayPal, Square, or Stripe. Through these services, credit cards and bank transfers are accepted. The payment link will be provided once your details and itinerary are set via email or messenger.
Yes. Please click here to book.
The fee will be 100% refunded if cancellation is declared via email (or another method we've agreed on) at least 1 day before the start. Otherwise, the fee will not be refunded, except at our discretion. See our Terms and Conditions.
In most cases, yes. Please contact us as soon as possible — the sooner you reach out, the more likely we can rearrange around our availability.
Up to 5 people per party for your safety — for example, you, your spouse, and three children. For groups of 6 or more, just contact us and we'll find a solution together. Every tour is private, so no other group is ever involved.
All of our bikes are folding e-bikes made by the Japanese brand Daytona, with 20-inch wheels and 9 speeds — light, nimble, and easy to handle. Thanks to the motor assistance, cycling stays effortless even on hills. We currently offer one size, ideally suitable for riders between 145cm (4'9") and 185cm (6'1") tall and under 100kg (220lbs).
We give every guest a helmet and a safety briefing on Japanese road rules before the tour begins, and if weather or other conditions turn hazardous, we'll end the tour early.
I am First Aid certified and carry a first-aid kit at all times. You'll be covered by our insurance, but this coverage is not comprehensive, so we highly recommend signing up for your own travel insurance beforehand.
Our insurance covers injuries to you as a guest resulting from the guide's error, as well as accidents you may unintentionally cause during the tour. That said, this is not a substitute for comprehensive travel insurance, so we strongly recommend all participants carry their own travel insurance for full peace of mind.
If conditions become unsafe, we will end the tour before or during the ride, and you'll receive a full refund. Every decision is made with safety as the top priority. In some cases, we may offer a supplementary walking tour at 50% off as an alternative.
Your pace is our pace. We build in short stops along the way, including visits to a local Japanese sweets shop, an ice cream shop, or a local cafe on the route, so you can rest, eat, and recharge whenever you need to.
No, meals themselves aren't included — but as above, we always make time for you to eat and drink along the way, including stops at Japanese sweets shops.
Yes. Since it's a private tour, we can stop whenever you need to — there's no fixed schedule to follow. Just let your guide know at any time.
We recommend leaving your luggage with your hotel's front desk before the tour — it's difficult to carry luggage while cycling, and this is actually one reason we start our tours at your hotel. Please note we are not responsible for loss or damage to your belongings before, during, or after the tour.
I was born and raised in Tokyo and have guided bike tours here for over seven years. Before becoming a guide, I spent 23 years teaching English and lived in Singapore for 10 years, giving me both local knowledge and an international perspective. Learn more in our brand story.
I speak fluent English. I lived in Singapore for 10 years and bring 23 years of experience as an English teacher, so clear communication is one of my biggest strengths. Feel free to ask questions throughout the tour — that's part of the fun!
Absolutely! I'd be happy to. I bring both a mirrorless camera and a smartphone, and I'll gladly take photos for you throughout the tour whenever we stop at scenic spots. I'll also be happy to suggest some of my favorite photo spots along the way. I'll send them to you after the tour so you'll have lasting memories of your time in Tokyo.
Yes, but only when the bike is stopped — taking photos or videos while cycling is extremely dangerous and illegal, so it's not allowed while the bike is in motion.
Yes, unless you'd prefer we don't. You consent to us using photos and videos of you taken during the tour for advertising and promotional purposes in any medium we choose. You grant us a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide, irrevocable license to use such images for publicity and promotional purposes such as brochures, websites, and social media. If you'd rather we didn't, just let us know before the tour and we won't use them.
