FAQ

General

Q
What is the point of cycling in Tokyo?
A

Tokyo changes the atmosphere drastically area by area. One side has many modern skyscrapers, and the other has a vibrant local neighborhood. Cycling is the only way to connect such dynamic changes, enjoying the breeze and the air.

Q
What is the point of a private tour?
A

You might want to visit an attractive spot when you find it on a bike. What if other people are involved in your group? You can stop by at your own pace. You might want to cycle slowly or fast. You don’t have to keep up with the other group members—cycle at your own pace. We want you to enjoy such private time in Tokyo.

Q
Why is the point of starting and ending at my hotel?
A

Let’s say this is your first time in Tokyo. It must be hard to tell the taxi driver to go to the meeting point in Japanese. It must also be hard to reach even if you have a smartphone.
You must be sweaty after the tour, and you want to take a shower immediately. What if your end of the tour was far away from your hotel? Our consideration before and after the tour will lead to your blissful experience in Tokyo. That’s why our policy is to say, “Nice to meet you, and goodbye at your hotel.”

Q
Do I have to start at our hotel?
A

No, you don’t have to. You can ask where you want to start and ask us when you sign up. If you are not familiar with Tokyo’s geography, your hotel will be the safest choice to start.

Q
Do I have to end at our hotel?
A

No, you don’t have to. You can choose where you want to end the tour. Ask us when you sign up, and then we will consider the best route for you.

Q
Do you have a night-time tour?
A

Not so far. Cycling at night might be exciting, but we believe it might be a bit dangerous. We would like you to enjoy beer at night at your hotel.

Q
What time does your tour start?
A

We will start at 8:30 for the morning tour and at 14:00 for the afternoon tour. Your 10-minute earlier arrival at the starting point would be highly appreciated. (Japanese people are very punctual.)

Q
Can I start earlier or later?
A

Yes. If the regular starting time is not suitable for your schedule, please let us know when you sign up. If the change is not slight, an additional charge will be applied. See Our Tours & Prices.

Q
Can I extend the tour?
A

Thank you for asking us to extend the tour! Please let us know when you sign up. We will open our time with an additional charge. See Our Tours & Prices.

Q
I will stay in Tokyo briefly, and the ideal time slot is not open.
A

We will do our best to meet your schedule. Please get in touch with us immediately.

Q
When is the best time for the cherry blossom, and which tour is best?
A

The cherry blossom usually fully blooms in Tokyo in late March to early April. During this time, all of the routes will be covered in pink. It is hard to book any tour in Japan, so if you think about the timing, decide as soon as possible.

Q
I want to go to a particular place during the tour.
A

Yes, we will do our best to meet your requests, and we like that. But if the destination is far away from the original route, additional charges may apply. Please describe your requests when you sign up. See Our Tours & Prices.

Q
Can you provide details about the schedule and departure point of the tour?
A

The route of the tour depends on the starting point. It depends on an as-is basis, but temples, shrines, or back streets are included in each route. Learn more about our tours.

Q
How long is the duration of the tour?
A

The tour will last about 3 hours. It depends on the exact traffic conditions or other factors, so it will end about 10 mins earlier or later than scheduled.

Q
What is the distance of a tour?
A

Our bike tours range from 15-20km in distance and are considered easy level. Our tours are specially curated based on the theme of skyscrapers to back streets in Tokyo, with multiple short stops along the way to give commentaries and let you drink up. The terrain in Tokyo is hilly on the western side, but our bikes are e-bikes, so the tours should be manageable for most people.

Q
What are the type of terrain and traffic of the route like?
A

The western side of Tokyo, such as Shinjuku, Shibuya, or Roppongi, is hilly, but our bikes are e-bikes. The motor will assist you when you pedal, so it’s not a tough ride.

Most routes use well-paved roads, but we have no bike lanes. We need to share the roads with cars or pedestrians. We design routes that are not only scenic but safe.

Q
What if I injure myself during the tour?
A

We are all First-Aid trained. We do have a First-Aid Kit in our tour guide bag. You will be covered with insurance, but it is not sufficient, so we highly recommend you to sign up for any other travel insurance beforehand.

Q
Where is your bike shop?
A

We do not have a bike shop; we run the business online and on mobile. We must send our bicycles to the designated meeting point before every tour. This allows us to run different curated bike tours in various Tokyo areas and meet as many requests as possible.

Q
Where can I leave my luggage?

It is hard to take any luggage during the tour. You could ask your hotel staff, which is why we will start our bike tour at your hotel. We are not responsible for losing or damaging of your items before/during/after the tour.
