Discover Local Spirits

Discover Local Spirits

Even in the middle of this concrete jungle, there is a dedicated sacred space surrounded by trees. People come here even before business hours, pray, and leave quietly. This is the grave of Taira no Masakado, a former samurai who became a legendary figure after his death in the 10th century.

When I visited, someone was praying deeply at the site, and an endless stream of people kept arriving. They all come to show their respect to his spirit.

You might easily overlook this place and pass right by it if you don't have a guide. But once you know the background of this sacred spot, you will begin to understand Japanese people and its people from a different perspective. Since this grave is deeply connected to Kanda Shrine, our bike tour covers both of these meaningful places.

Epilogue

To tell you the truth, we actually got a flat tire right after taking that last shot! Luckily, since their hotel was located just right in front of us, I asked them if they wouldn't mind walking their bikes the last few steps. They were incredibly understanding and kind about the situation, and I can't thank them enough.

To make things even sweeter, they left a heartfelt review after the ride, thanking me for the wonderful experience. It was a beautiful reminder of why I love guiding these private tours.

Knowledgable, fun, fantastic morning! Kazuma navigated us through gardens & temples, sharing history & taking photos along the way. He tailored the ride to our family, and honestly, the whole experience was a delight.
