Ginza: How Flexibility Made Our Private E-Bike Tour Even Better
October 29, 2026

Your time in Tokyo is limited, so you want to use it efficiently. In that case, a private e-bike tour works well. Here is a story about how the flexibility of a private tour paid off.

Let's Customize Your Tour
You probably plan your own itinerary before you come to Tokyo. Sometimes you ask friends who have been to Japan, and other times you 'talk' with ChatGPT or other AI assistants.
This time my guests sent me their ideas. Their message went something like this:
Can we cover spots such as the Imperial Palace Outer Gardens, Tokyo Station, Otemachi, Nihonbashi, Tsukiji, Tsukuda, and Tsukishima, plus backstreets with a nice mix of modern and traditional Tokyo, if we start the tour at your office in Ginza?
Then it was my turn to polish the itinerary with my local knowledge. I put together an original route mixing modern and traditional Tokyo, including as many of their requested spots as possible. It is not a cookie-cutter route but one tailored only for that day's guests!
Have a Coffee Break
While chatting during the ride, I realized my guests love coffee. Besides, it was their first day in Tokyo, so I felt they needed some caffeine to fight jet lag. It was the coldest day of the season so far, so we needed to warm up.
Flexibility Works Well
The original route seemed perfect. But we changed it along the way. We started the tour from Ginza to cover as many spots as the guests wanted, and we did not plan to end at their hotel. But as we rode, I realized that ending at the hotel would fit the route much better. So we changed course and finished the tour right at their hotel. It couldn't be more convenient! This kind of flexibility is a big advantage of a private bike tour.
Highlights Along the Route
Every tour is different, but here are some examples of highlights you can expect on this route.

Zojo-ji Temple
A magnificent temple with lots of jizo statues. Learn a bit about Buddhism in Japan.

FAMIMA
A super modern convenience store from FamilyMart. Experience a futuristic store!

Azabudai Hills
One of Tokyo's newest landmarks, opened in 2023. A modern skyscraper district with luxurious shops and condos.

Hibiya Park
Japan's first Western-style park, with Japanese gardens too. A calm oasis between the commercial and government districts.

Imperial Palace
An amazingly open space with stone walls, moats, and beautiful pine trees, right next to the skyscrapers.

Tokyo Station
The red-brick station building, opened in 1914. Enjoy the scenery of modern Tokyo.

Otemachi
One of Japan's major business districts, next to Tokyo Station. A sacred old tomb still stands among the skyscrapers.

Nihonbashi Bridge
The starting point of Japan's old highways. Imagine the bridge without the expressway above it, due to be removed around 2040.

A Local Cafe
A short break over a cup of coffee or tea

Chuo Ohashi Bridge
A bridge over the Sumida River with a sweeping view. Enjoy the breeze, looking at Tokyo Skytree in the distance.

Tsukuda
An old island that shows us an authentic Tokyo residential area. Narrow lanes and wooden houses survive among high-rises.

Ginza
Tokyo’s most luxurious shopping district, where my office is. And you know why!

Epilogue
After the bike ride, I received a lovely message from them, and it said:
Kazuma gave us an excellent bike tour of Tokyo! It was very well thought out based on our requests and he took us to several off the beaten path locations as well as the high lights We highly recommend him!
